The team handling the estate’s digital services said that they had made modifications to the accounts to stop the hackers from gaining access to to the accounts.
An email sent to the affected staff said that a closer investigation had confirmed the hackers resolve in carrying out a sustained and determined attack on the parliamentary user accounts to enable them determine weak passwords and gain access to the emails.
The email further said that in conjunction with the National Cyber Centre, they were working to identify the method of the attack and make changes to forestall the attacker from gaining access while investigation continues.
These changes of course will limit the MPs and their offices access to their mails on mobile phones and tablets outside Westminster.
