The Anambra born notorious kidnapper, Chukwudubem Onwuamadike, and the man who may be seen as Nigeria’s most wanted kidnapper has been arrested. He hails from Umudim Nnewi in Anambra State. He was arrested at his Magodo residence in Lagos.
The Nation Online reported that the notorious kidnapper has evaded the Police for five years but was finally apprehended after he tried to escape from the roof top of his residence, which was surrounded by the police.
Items recovered from his house include four AK47 rifles and over 50 magazines.
Ibrahim Idris, the Inspector General of Police has placed a N30million bounty on him for anyone with information that could necessitate his arrest.
Evans has been responsible for several high-profile armed robbery in the South West, South and Eastern parts of the country.
His smartness was proven by his antics which made him evade the police for almost half of a decade and has caused the security forces to be on their toes.
The smart criminal was said to have received billions of naira from his victims which includes: expatriates, business moguls and public office holders.
Recalling how the suspect was arrested, a police source said the IGP deployed all resources within the Force’s disposal to facilitate the arrest of the culprit. The focus, according to him in the last one month was to catch Evans alive to make Nigerian heave a sigh of relief.
Evans is seen as the most brilliant, richest and crafty kidnapper in the country aside Vampire who was regarded as the deadliest.
The suspect told police investigators that he has two houses in Magodo which he bought for N130million and N70million. He said to have confessed that he has been in the kidnapping business for about 10 years. He also was said to have confessed that have two more houses of four bedroom duplexes in Ghana.
He claimed owning a wrist watch bought at the rate of $170,000 including nine phones, of which three cost $6,000 each.
He said he had already relocated to Ghana and had sent his wife away when he realised the police was closing in on him. He was also planning to travel abroad before he was caught.
