National Assembly cuts budget for 2nd Niger Bridge
The sum of N5 billion has been slashed off from the budget for the construction of the second Niger bridge linking Onitsha to Asaba.
The contract for the bridge initiated by the previous government under Goodluck Jonathan was earlier suspended by the current administration but later re awarded at the cost of N15 billion to Julius Berger.
The minster of Power. Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola also confirmed that N21 billion had also been slashed off the N31 billion earmarked for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
He said that the slashed funds were diverted to projects inserted into the 2017 budget by the lawmakers and that the projects were not the priority of the government.
