Manchester United named World’s Most Valuable Club
The fortune of the English side club, Manchester United FC must have turned into a historic succession of success as it was named the most valuable club in world’s football. Just like we reported in previous post that Cristiano Ronaldo was named world’s most famous athlete.
The Red Devils have recorded 13 titles in the Premier League since the inception of the club in 1992. Within that period, Manchester United also made it to four Champions League finals with a win in 1999 and 2008.
More striking, as it is now, the club for the very first time in five years, has won the world’s most valuable soccer team with a worth of $3.69 billion. The team’s recovery success as it got back to the top spot is, according to Forbes, a testament to their powerful brand and marketing acumen. The club made a revenue of $765 million during the 2015-16 season and $77 million in a clear gap both Barcelona and Real Madrid.
In advertising and sponsorship revenue, Manchester United brought in $405 million much more than any other soccer team. The club is by far, the most profitable soccer team in the world, as recorded by Forbes, with operating income of $288 million, $107million more than the runner-up Real Madrid. This will make it difficult to over take the Red Devils in the near future.
The club’s winning of the Europa League has placed them among the contenders of the highly lucrative 2017-18 Champions League.
Manchester United has an unparalleled global audience because of their popularity. Following immediately after Manchester United in value are Barcelona ($3.64 billion), Real Madrid ($3.58 billion), Bayern Munich ($2.71 billion) and Manchester City ($2.08 billion).
