Five Tips for Improving Monday Mornings
The weekend groove is over! Oh no! Couldn’t it be reversed? No, of course not, comrade. It’s Sunday night already and tomorrow is work. Whether you are self employed or doing the paid-employment thing, you must have to work.
Mondays, specifically are seen as the start of the week after the weekend groove and rest. It’s about time again you get down to the table, review your achievements and failure within the past week. You need to re-strategize, re-plan, get your team back to focus and in high spirit.
The temptation of starting our Mondays clumsily and perhaps with a hang-over of the fun of weekend abounds.
Below are few tips to make Monday your best day as you record new achievements, milestones and accomplishment.
Get up Earlier
That means, you have to go dusting your bed right now. You have a lot of work to do tomorrow. It’s said that early to sleep, early to rise. If you really want to change your Monday mindset, try wake up earlier. Your target should start right from home to the office. When you wake up early, you have enough time to attend to your home chores before dashing to the office. This will help make your evening less burdensome. The hassles in trying to fix things up in the morning before dashing out is also a way to exercise yourself.
Have Break fast
Whether this will be done at home or in the office isn’t a major factor. The major factor is that break fast is a must. Study shows that the brain consumes a lot of energy from the body. That’s why breakfast is seen as the most important meal of the day. Skip your breakfast and ruin your Monday. Your brain will have to rely on stored energy to function and with that, fatigue sets in.
Face the day’s work squarely
With the renewed energy, face whatever task you have squarely. Draw up your to-do list. This list will, as it should be, must have contained a carried-over item, perhaps from Friday or Saturday if you work that day too.
Once the to-do list is drawn, prioritize the items in the list. You are not a bulldozer to attend to all the items in the list for that day. So prioritizing them will make you focus on the more important ones. Don’t get into the temptation of attending to the so-called “low hanging fruits first”. Do them in the sequence of their importance and see how much you can achieve.
Review your achievements
At the end of the day, see if you were able to meet your deadlines. How many items were you able to accomplish on the to-do list. Carry the rest over to the next day.
Plan a treat with friends or family
Planning a little outing with a friend, colleague or family will help you cool off and prepare you for work the following day. Having a little fun will help bring down the pressure you took from the office. Bear in mind that Monday isn’t another weekend. So don’t go boozing.
Relax with Family
Perhaps you would prefer to relax with your family after the day’s work. That will take care of the above. Instead of hanging out with friends, stick with your wife and kids and enjoy the fun.
